We are at the 13 week mark and I am finally in my 2nd trimester. Here's hoping that this trimester is a little less complicated then the last. I will say it sure did end with a bang or should I say myself as a big ball of emotions.
In the first trimester I have gone through 2 cases of fifths disease at one of the schools I teach in (1 during week 7 the last in week 12). I have had to reschedule my first "real prenatal" appointment multiple times because of snow storms. Most recently I had to schedule a screening in less then a week. I had asked my OB if I could get it scheduled since the last date it can be done is 13 weeks 6 days and they assured me the it's ok and we will discuss it at my appointment (12w3d). So, I got my script with 6 days to try to get in for the screening and wouldn't ya know the office they were sending me to doesn't even open til a week after I need the test done. The other office they were using needs the referral sent to them and they will call me to schedule. Thankfully the lady I talked to agreed to schedule my appt without the referral. Of course they were booked up until Monday which just happens to be the last possible a I can get this screening. Oh, and guess what - we are expecting a possible snow storm that may drop another 10" of snow on us Sunday into Tuesday. Yep, can't catch a break.
I know this screening is optional but it is something I want to have done since I had a previous miscarriage and want to be assured that this baby is healthy. Is it the end of the world if I can't get it? Of course not but I'm just frustrated and annoyed my OB wouldn't let me schedule before my blood work up and office visit knowing my window was so small. This didn't make for a good morning for me but thankfully I have some great coworkers who helped me through it.
My news has been shared on Facebook and at both schools so we have made it official. Here was our announcement:
The Hainsey family is adding a new player to its roster in Sept!
We are excited to meet our peanut and can not wait to see him/her again at our next ultrasound!
